As cloud computing has emerged as the ascendant computing paradigm, it has driven the proliferation of new classes of workloads, ranging from web search and categorization to content hosting and distribution to machine learning.
These cloud workloads have distinctive requirements that drive the need for a new architecture, one that is designed with the future in mind, and not bound by the burdens of legacy compatibility. This presentation will discuss the role of CPUs, accelerators and software in meeting the needs of these workloads, as well as other design considerations for the Open Compute Project community.
