Cloud computing is growing at an exponential pace with an increasing number of workloads being hosted in hyper-scale public clouds such as Microsoft Azure. Designing and operating infrastructure at such a scale requires a significant investment in datacenters, servers, networking and operating systems, as well as driving research and creating innovation to capitalize on disruptive trends such as AI/ML. We need to keep pace with tremendous growth in the cloud, support a broad spectrum of workloads including emerging cloud services, and enable easy scaling across global datacenter regions. To accomplish this, our innovation needs to expand beyond developing new hardware to transform the model for open source hardware development with a focus on platform security and driving revolutionary architectures in cloud-scale devices.
