100G CWDM4-OCP Update
Following on from the 100G-CWDM4-OCP optics announcement at last years' summit, 100G-CWDM4 is seeing tremendous growth in the industry and market analysts are reporting large scale adoption in data center applications. CWDM4-OCP was accepted early 2017 as an OCP project. In this session we will report on the latest OCP update, including activities regarding interoperability testing that is being done in collaboration with UNH to ensure hardware interoperabilty and smooth deployment across multiple vendors.

Failure Prediction Mechanism for Pluggable Optical Interconnect at Facebook Data Centers
The importance of predicating failure of optical transceiver becomes more and more critical due to the high cost of lost traffic in the networking infrastructure. After Facebook’s massive deployment of 100G CWDM4, we are reporting one mechanism that will allow us to predict the optical transceiver failure. This is based on the investigation of the relationship among the bias current of the laser diode, transmitter power degradation and environmental changes. This mechanism will eventually be embedded into the firmware of the transceiver to provide us a guide to pull the problematic transceiver out of the networking before it actually fails.
