Industry Collaboration for Open Lifecycle Service Orchestration (LSO) APIs
In November of 2017, MEF announced MEF 3.0, a transformation global services framework for defining, delivering, and certifying agile, assured, and orchestrated communication services across a global ecosystem of automated networks. MEF 3.0 blends sophisticated, standardized services with an emerging suite of LSO (Lifecycle Service Orchestration) APIs to provide an on-demand, cloud-centric experience with unprecedented user- and application-directed control over network resources and service capabilities.

Of particular interest to OCP attendees of the telco stream will be the extensive collaboration, led by MEF, ONAP, major operators and OSS vendors for the development of MEF 3.0 LSO Open APIs. These APIs were featured in the PoC showcase at the recent MEF17 event by major operators,  whereby connectivity services were instantiated across multiple ONAP domains using MEF Open APIs supported by both the operators and OSS vendors.

This session will explore the many areas and forms of collaboration occurring between MEF and open source projects, including reference implementation, proof-of-concept demonstrations and information model development. Such activities are essential for the industry to achieve the goal delivering on-demand, automated, application aware networks services across a global footprint.

Building the Foundation: How to Deploy CORD Architectures with OCP-Based Hardware
Communications Services Providers (CSPs) are focused on transforming their Central Offices into virtualized telco data centers. The open Central Office Re-architected as a Datacenter (CORD) project is an open service delivery platform that combines SDN, NFV and the cloud to deliver cloud agility and economies of scale found in the data center.

OCP-based hardware, based on the CG-OpenRack-19 specification, meets the stringent requirements of CSPs for scalable and carrier-grade system that integrates high-performance, storage and networking in a single rack.

As a premier systems integrator for CORD, Radisys has delivered turnkey CORD solutions that leverage open hardware. In this session, attendees will:
  • Learn about available hardware options for CORD
  • Gain insight into the growing traction of OCP-based hardware as the foundation for CORD reference architectures today
  • Understand the role of systems integrators

OCP NIC 3.0 Collaboration- An Open Hardware Development Story (Joint session with Server)
The OCP NIC subgroup has been working on this initiative since last summit. The goal is to explore and enable next generation open form factor, targeting NIC applications. The subgroup made great progress with strong involvement from system suppliers, NIC suppliers, connector suppliers, and end users. In this session we will update the latest status and outlook around this effort to broader community. We hope more community members are able to see benefit, give feedback, and join this effort in the future.
