Kyle Forster

Big Switch
Kyle Forster founded Big Switch Networks in 2010 along with the key members of Stanford’s “Clean Slate” networking research team, the inventors of Software Defined Networking. Observing how these inventions were being embraced by the hyperscale data center community, and noting their approach to separating networking hardware and software suppliers, Forster saw an opportunity to combine a disruptive core technology with a disruptive business model to address the stagnating $54B networking industry. Prior to Big Switch, Kyle spent most of his career at Cisco, initially as the technical assistant to SVP Mike Volpi and later on the Product Management teams of the wireless LAN and cellular networking business units. He holds a BSE in Electrical Engineering from Princeton, an MS in Computer Science and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
